Dr. Sarah W. Mackey, CFRE, CVA
Sarah Mackey is an accomplished nonprofit executive, educator, and advocate with over 20 years of experience scaling mission-driven organizations and leading strategic initiatives that drive measurable community impact. Across the nonprofit sector she has served on boards of directors, supported boards as a staff member and facilitated board engagement as a consultant.
Sarah serves as the Executive Director of Women in Security and Privacy (WISP), a global nonprofit organization advancing underrepresented communities to lead the future of privacy and security. Under her leadership, WISP has expanded access to scholarships, networking, and leadership development opportunities for underrepresented professionals in security and privacy. Prior to WISP, Sarah held C-suite and vice president roles at the National CASA/GAL Association for Children and Habitat for Humanity International. She led national transformation initiatives that boosted fundraising results, expanded volunteer engagement, and strengthened systems that drive program impact across the United States.
A certified volunteer administrator (CVA) and certified fundraising executive (CFRE), Sarah has mobilized thousands of volunteers across the globe, raised millions of dollars in philanthropic support, built cross-sector partnerships, and designed tools and resources used by thousands of nonprofit professionals. Her work is rooted in a commitment to measurable impact, strategic alignment, and inclusive leadership.
Sarah holds a doctorate in public administration and is a university instructor, teaching courses in nonprofit management and social justice. She also offers career coaching for individuals transitioning into new roles. Sarah serves on boards and committees focused on ethics, education, and civic engagement. Her contributions to the nonprofit sector have been recognized with numerous honors, such as the Civil Liberties Award from the ACLU of Georgia, the ATHENA Leadership Award, and recognition as Nonprofit Director of the Year.
